What we’ve done so far: Earthworks
The main earthworks have now been completed.
Previous update:
June 2018
- As part of our works, we’re moving a huge volume of material around the site to prepare platforms for future house building. Approximately 250,000m3 of existing ground will be moved, enough to fill 2,200 double decker buses or 100 full size Olympic swimming pools
- Currently, we have three excavators, four bulldozers and six articulated dump trucks working on site
- During the coming months the bulk of the earthworks on site will be completed. As work on the development plots for the proposed new housing is completed to the correct level, focus will shift to completing the new roads throughout the site. As part of this work, a drier material is needed to form the road make-up. As there is a lack of this type of material on site, we are ‘modifying’ existing wet material by adding lime which dries the ground out making it suitable
- A total of 22,605 m3 of redundant topsoil has been removed from the site.
